2026 IU Archaeology Field School

New Mexico - Agape Acres Site in the Mimbres River

Dates: May 23 through July 3, 2026
Cost: $1900 fee plus 6 credit hours tuition
Limited to 17 students

Lead by Dr. Fumi Arakawa, IUMAA Associate Director of Research, students can participate in a field school this summer in southern New Mexico. Students will conduct test excavations at the Black Mountain Phase site (AD 1200-1130) in Mimbres Valley; participate in all phases of archaeological field work including test excavation, mapping, and in-field analysis; camp overnight at the Mimbres Cultural Heritage Site; and earn credits in ANTH-X480 (undergrad) or ANTH-A595 (graduate).
