Research Fellowships

Research fellowships at IUMAA

Applications for Research Fellowships next will be accepted Spring 2024.

The IU Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology (IUMAA) offers research fellowships for graduate students of Indiana University. These fellowships aid research for dissertation, thesis, or related projects that make use of the IUMAA collections, and/or contribute to archaeology, ethnohistory, or related subjects. Applications for work using museum collections or work related to sites where the IUMAA has worked receive high priority.

The museum curates millions of artifacts that derive from a range of sites and time periods. Click the button to catch a glimpse of what's available.

Students must be working with an IU faculty member who can provide mentoring and oversight for their research. The IUMAA fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis. A committee drawn from the IUMAA Advisory Committee and senior museum staff will review proposals and select recipients.
