Research and Study Opportunities
The IUMAA facility is currently closed for on-site research due to building renovations, and collections are housed in temporary locations off-site.
However, remote research/study may be possible. IU faculty, students, and visiting researchers are encouraged to email iumaa@indiana.edu for further information. Inquiries will be directed to the appropriate department for review.
IU Archaeological Field School
New Mexico - Twin Pines Village in the Gila National Forest
2024, May 20- June 28 (6 weeks)
$1600 fee plus 6 credit hours tuition
Limited to 17 students
Lead by Dr. Fumi Arakawa, IUMAA Associate Director of Research, students can participate in a field school this summer in southern New Mexico. Students wil lconduct test excavations at a pithouse/classic Mimbres site (AD 550-1130) in Gila National Forest; participate in al lphases of archaeological field work including test excavation, mapping, and in-field analysis; camp overnight at the Beaverhead Work Center; earn credits in ANTH-X480 (undergrad) or ANTH-A595 (graduate).
